Double Culture - Tibet

I went to Tibet in 2001, fifty years earlier the chinese army, directed by Mao, had annexed it, they thus celebrated the birthday of the « peaceful liberation of Tibet ».
Military processions, barracks in each villages, visas required to pass from one area to the other, propaganda, fake monks paid to act in the monasteries, main street of Lhasa looking like a street of Beijing, Chinese people transported there because there isn't enough space in China.
On the other side, the Tibetan people, buddhist monks, a river to be crossed in small boat to reach a withdrawn monastery, merchants, relentless workers, cooks, villages lost in the mountains, staggering culture, welcoming men and women, enormous generosity.
A very strong experience, sometimes hard, sometimes moving, sometimes joyful.
